KCBS teams are known for cooking some of the best barbeque in the world, but it takes a dedicated team of judges to decide which is truly the best-of-the-best. Being a Certified Barbeque Judge (CBJ) means more than just getting to taste award-winning barbeque – and deciding which barbeque wins those awards. It’s about representing and spreading the message of KCBS, which is to promote America’s cuisine – barbeque.

To become a CBJ, you need to attend a class. We are putting on a class!! In a two-day class, you’ll learn how to grade world-class chicken, pulled pork, ribs and brisket – and taste them during the process!

By the time you’re finished, you’ll be ready to sign up as a judge at first Slovenia BBQ open contest (16th/17th September 2017) or anyone other KCBS competition in the world! And remember: your CBJ fee also includes one year’s membership to KCBS. It’s a win-win!

You are especially invited to attend 2-day on site KCBS cooking class to learn on a variety of barbecue topics ranging from the basics and barbecue essentials, to the tips and tricks of cooking competition-grade barbecue. Jim Johnson is a KCBS master barbecue teacher, and highly decorated barbecue pitmaster, having won 76 Grand Championships during his 28-year competition career. Jim has finished first in every category at four Memphis in in May contests on four occasions, and has finished in the top ten nine times. Jim has also been crowned the Whole Hog World Champion at the prestigious Jack Daniels World Championship Invitational. Jim and his wife Becky are part of the KCBS International Outreach team. So, you don’t want to miss a chance to learn how to make real American BBQ from one of the best world’s BBQ pitmaster.

BBQ Cooking & Judging Class will be held on 13th & 14 th May 2017 in Ljubljana, Slovenia at Restaurant Gerbec – perfect spot for out class – one of the oldest restaurants in Ljubljana area, completely renovated a few years ago, with summer garden and children’s play facilities.
